Luck
is a matter of believingLuck is a matter of believing Logan had spent nearly two hours digging through her clothes, trying to find the perfect thing to wear. Really, she was just going to the zoo, so why did she care so much? She had a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that this was all just a set up anyway. Some pick on the new kid kind of thing. But it was Kenny. She had first she had thought he was just obnoxious and annoying, but as she started to actually get to know him, he had grown on her. Though his flirting, she could do without. When it was towards her, she loved it; to everyone else…she had a growing jealousy. And she couldn’t even claim him in anyway. It wasn’t like they were actually boyfriend and girlfriend. Heck, this was to be their first actual date.
She jumped after realizing that she had been staring into the mirror for nearly 20 minutes and she only had 30 left to get ready. Settling on a black mini skirt and a purple and black tee, she changed and set about doing her hair and make-up. Finishing, she grabbed her bag and headed downstairs. It was the weekend so there were no classes, always a nice thing. But it also meant that Zain and Holly were both home. Logan stopped for a moment to talk to the two of them. After reassuring Zain what felt like a million times that she had her cell and would call him if anything happened, she slipped out the door.
The zoo wasn’t far from her place and the walk in the warm sun felt good. The light breeze made it even better. Spring was her favorite time of year. Everything was in bloom and there were so many colors to see. Logan lost herself in thought again as she walked. Was this going to be a trick? Was it a dare that Kenny had been put up to? Ugh, why had she ever agreed to this? The thoughts raced through her mind as she walked along, finally coming to the entrance of the zoo. Glancing at her phone, she saw that she was about ten minutes early. Would Kenny actually show up? Or was she going to be left standing outside the zoo like an idiot? She sighed as she leaned against the wall next to a lion statue and waited. Only time would tell.

After having a long lecture from his dad about needing to slow down on girls, Kenny was finally free to get ready. He knew he flirted with a lot a girls, took girls on many dates. It was dating as a couple he had trouble with. Sure, Kenny could agree he shouldn't lead so many on just to go after another. He didn't mean to do it that way, they just weren't... right for him. He wasn't picky in a sense. He was just searching for someone who felt right. Logan did. He knew it was wrong for a vampyre to date a werecat. It wasn't against law, just looked down upon. He thought people were just being too racist or.... closed minded.
In no time he had himself dressed in some nice skinny jeans with a black button down shirt. He had his buttons a little further down than most people would wear them. He threw a matching hat onto his head and some nice shoes. Just like every day, he wore the same cologne just strong enough to smell if someone got real close to him.
"Kenny!" He heard Ash yell throw the house. "Dude, come play BlackOps with me."
"Can't. I'm going out." He called back to him, tying his last shoelace.
"Who's the girl this time?"
'This time'. He hated that... "Just because I've dated a lot of girls doesn't mean every time I go out it's with a girl." He thought then said. "Non-ya."
Lincon Park Zoo wasn't far from him. A ten or twenty minute walk would do him some good, besides, he didn't feel like trying to find a parking place. He realized he was running late when he was already half way there. No point in turning back now to drive. He hoped Logan would stay... He hated to think she might leave because he was late.
He pulled out his cell to send her a text. To his horrible luck, his phone died right in the middle of his message. "Wonderful." He thought quickening his speed. "If the sunlight wasn't bad enough already." All vampyres had the same problem with the sun. It pricked their skin and eyes giving them a feeling of either pain or slight burning like horrible sunburn. Kenny felt hot and prickly. He pulled his sunglasses from his front pocket, placed them on, and started off at a jog.
Being ten minutes late, he knew he had some making up to do. Buying Logan some ice-cream should do it. "Hey there." He said softly, walking around the lion statue. "Sorry I'm late, lost track of time." He smiled apologetically stepping closer to her. He was close enough the point of his shoes were almost touching hers. "You look nice, as always of course." A truthful smiles played across his face.

Luck
is a matter of believingLuck is a matter of believing Time felt like it was dragging on for those ten minutes until Kenny was supposed to be there. And then noon came. And Kenny didn’t. Logan instantly felt that he was standing her up. The girl part of her brain became highly upset as she tried to work through why Kenny would do that. Sure he was a flirt but would he really be so rude to someone? It took a minute for the logical part of her brain to butt in and put in the idea that he might be late. With a soft sigh she settled back against the wall again. She would give him ten minutes. Max. The time passed slowly again, but eventually ten minutes hit. Logan was about to leave when the scent of vampyre hit her nose. Kenny came around the statue only a moment after that. So he hadn’t stood her up. That was good at least. Seeing him smile at her, she couldn’t help but smile back. She was naturally a friendly person, being mean was hard for her to do unless you really hurt her or her family. “Hey.” She spoke softly as she smiled at him. Something she liked about being a werecat, she could smell a lie. Though she was pretty sure vampyres could too. Either way, she knew that he was telling the truth when he said he lost track of time, and that he thought she looked nice. That made her smile just a touch bit wider. “It’s ok.” She shifted her weight, causing her shoe to slightly bump his. Looking him over, she laughed lightly. “As do you.” It took a moment, but her smile turned to a slight frown. She hadn’t really thought everything through when the zoo came up as the place for them to go. The sun. It didn’t bother her at all, in fact she loved it. But she knew that it bothered vampyres. “Are you going to be ok? We can always go somewhere else.” She spoke, hoping that he would understand what she was talking about, not wanting to say anything out loud for the sake of normal people overhearing. She didn’t want him to be in pain while he was with her. And she was more than willing to go somewhere else to be with him. But she would let him decide. As long as she got to stay with him, she’d be content. Logan had been waiting to spend time outside of school with him. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

If she smiled, he smiled. Her smile had been contagious to him since the first time he saw her. Even after such an odd meet Logan still had talked to him. That to him meant a lot. For the couple rare times, he wasn't being conceited about it. He could say she talked to him just because she saw more than most but, no, he wasn't thinking like that. She was a friendly, honest person.
She wasn't mad at him for being late, which was good, but she started to frown. It made him worry for a moment. Like he somehow disappointed her. Wrong approach? Wrong clothes? Too much cologne? "You're being ridiculous. Shut it." He thought to himself, pretty bummed by how so many feelings were running through him. Dates had always been easy for him... but he really wanted Logan to have the perfect time.
Oh, she had only been worried about him and the sun. He laughed, relieved. Code talk in the crowd of humans come easy to de-code for the 'supernatural'. "Oh," He said, smirking just lightly. "I'm fine. It's not too bad." He lied... then looked at her. "Okay, I don't like it but I can deal with it for you. As long as my mind is occupied I don't think about animal allergies. And, I'm with you it won't be bad at all."
Kenny almost hesitated before he touched his fingers to the back of Logan's wrist. His fingers slide down her wrist, to her hand, and finally laced his fingers with hers. "How about we stay here for a bit then hid to Skatetown? I can get in anything even when they're closed.... The manager gave me keys." he shrugged more than happy to go skating with her later. He could never figure out why the manager gave him keys though. It could have been because he went there just about every time they opened.
"Come on, Beautiful. Where to first?" He pulled on her hand lightly, starting into the Zoo. He payed the fee's for two people then waited for Logan to lead the way.

Luck
is a matter of believingLuck is a matter of believing A look crossed her face as he started to lie. She really hated when people lied to her. It was too easy for her to tell. Though, humans didn’t know that. A light smile played over her lips again as Kenny cut himself off from lying. At least he got it. His comments though, made her blush lightly. Was it possible that he could actually like her? Or was this all just part of his way. She knew he went out on dates a lot. It was partly why she had picked the zoo. Logan had a strong feeling that not many, if any of his dates had been there. It kind of gave her a chance to change the way he acted. Or so she hoped. Goosebumps flowed up her arm as his fingers brushed against her wrist. Had she ever held hands with a boy in public? No, well not since she was in like elementary school. And that didn’t count. Her blush only deepened as his fingers laced with hers. Goddess, Zain would be having a fit if he saw her with Kenny. He had gone on and on when she was leaving about being safe and texting him every hour. She was going to have to remember that. If she forgot she had a sneaking suspicion that Zain wouldn’t let her go out with a boy again for at least another month. Pushing that thought away she nodded and smiled at him. “Sounds like a plan.” She giggled a bit as he told her he could get in anytime. Looking at him she couldn’t help but smile. He just had that effect on her, and just about every other girl, she reminded herself. She still wasn’t sure if this was a date or some dare that he had been put up to. ‘Beautiful’ There went the blush again. He was good at that. Or maybe it was just because she was still so new at all of this. Either way she followed him into the zoo and then took the lead, leading him to the reptile building. It just so happened to be inside, a plus for him. But it was still her first stop at the zoo whenever she found the time. Just like the big cats would be her last. Logan walked slower than her normal pace, slowing down to look at the snakes, frogs and lizards that lived behind the glass in the warm lights. Looking to Kenny she grinned at him. “This is always the first place I go when I get the time to come here.” Did that make her odd? A girl that actually enjoyed reptiles and didn’t freak out at them? Who knew. She sure as hell didn’t care. This was who she was, another reason for choosing the zoo. Hopes of seeing a more true Kenny, and letting him see a more true her. She was always happy-go-lucky in school, but it was toned down compared to her attitude at home or out in public. Here was hoping Kenny could still stand her after the day.
