The New Lad [Aphrodite/Open]

Seamus carried a a pair of duffel bags, one in each hand, and a very large rucksack on his back packed with a lot of smaller stuff than he had in his main luggage. He groaned slightly underneath the cap he was wearing from the weight of all three bags dragging him down as he tried to walk the last few metres to the gates of the school. Shay had been away from the school since he was meant to be learning after being involved in a car accident a few days before him and the rest of the werecats were meant to join the House of Night. Since then, Seamus had been recovering at Zain's home until his injuries had healed.

He made it to the very foreboding metal gates that marked the entrance to the school grounds then immediately realised something. How the hell do I get in? Shay put down his bags momentarily and walked up to the gates. He looked around them to try and see if there was a latch or a speaker or something which he had to use to get in. Finding no such object, on a whim he called out, "Open sesame!" Whilst throwing his arms out to his sides in a mimicry of a magician. Seeing that nothing had happened, he tried again, this time with a comical accent attached. Again, nothing happened, so Seamus resorted to kicking the great iron gates out of spite.

To his surprise, the gate he had kicked swung open on a pair of well-oiled hinges, causing him to jump back slightly in surprise. Shay grabbed his bags and quickly walked through the gates, hoping he hadn't broken anything, and continued on his way down the cobbled path towards the school's main entrance.

This evening was meant to be a quiet one for the young high priestess in training, Aphrodite had plans to spend some time in Nyx’s temple and work on her essay, she loved being at the temple she felt closest to the goddess there and it was at the temple she was always inspired being as close to nyx as possible, but things had changed today there was meant to be a new student coming to the house of night a young werecat fledging by the name of Seamus Mcallister and it was Aphrodite’s task to keep him company while there was a vampyre available, the young high priestess in training walked down the hallways with her favorite ritual lighter in hand and frowned guess my essay on Vampyre matriachy will have to wait…aww man, I am going to have to ask for an extension…this sucks[/i] she thought to herself and fell over Aphrodite hit the ground with a thud and her lighter fell out of her and went out of reach the young high priestess in training sighed “great what else can go wrong”

Looking from the ground she saw her lighter, and worse she saw Simba, “Crap” she muttered looking at the small orange kitten Aphrodite had made no sudden movements, Simba was well known at the house of night he was Noctorious and up until recently had no name until the cat’s new pet named him Simba, everyone knew of this kitten. Simba was the type of cat to pounce you from above, he would attack anyone and do whatever the heck he wanted he was a menace to the house of night society, He would cause trouble for both the cats and the fledglings…he was defiantly touble but also very adorable. Personally Aphrodite adored Simba he was adorable, when he wasn’t picking on her.“Hey Simba…who’s a pretty and tough kitty….you are oh yes you are…I think Raven is looking for you” she spoke reassuringly Simba watched Aphrodite smugly and picked up the lighter in his mouth and ran off with it “no no no no….Come back you little terrorist” she yelled getting up and running after the kitten as she ran to the corner she looked around and saw nothing “wow he is getting really good at running away…aww man, im gonna have to talk to raven about this….or worse Estelle…why is Simba being such a pain all the time” she spoke to herself.

Aphrodite had decided to go down to the gates to greet the new student, she had made it there and leaned against the brick wall, she heard someone speak open sesame and she giggled silently, Aphrodite had assumed it was the new student and she hit the button on the side to open the gate. Walking from the side of the gate to the front Aphrodite smiled “ Merry meet….Welcome to the Chicago house of night” Aphrodite spoke welcoming the new student.

Seamus smiled happily and dropped his bags as the girl greeted him. "Merry meet," he replied whilst pulling the cap off of his head in politeness. "Me name's Seamus, by the way. I'm guessing you're the person I'm meant to meet to show me round the school. Aphrodite, right?" He held out his forearm for the Vampyre to shake before saying, "I'll try not to keep you too long. I'm sure you have more important things to do than show around the new lad."

He widened his smile at the last statement before his attention was drawn to something behind Aphrodite. A small, ginger kitten had emerged from somewhere that Shay couldn't see and it appeared to be carrying something in it's mouth whilst looking straight at the girl in front of the werecat. Slightly confused, Shay said to her, "Is that cat yours, lass? 'Cause it seems to be taking a lot of interest in you." Whilst gesturing towards where the kitten seemed to sitting patiently, waiting for someone to go near it or for something interesting to happen. "What's that he has in his mouth?"

Aphrodite had noticed the peculiar mark he was gifted with on the boy’s forehead she knew about the were fledglings and all, but they were still so fascinating to her. A lot of the fledglings tended to look down on them, because there would serve as the roles of protectors to the vampyres, personally Aphrodite thought those fledglings were idiots and she would gladly kick their ass if they tried to do something bad or degrading to another student. She smiled as he used the vampyre greeting and held out his forearm, as she walked towards him she clutched his forearm with the traditional vampyre greeting “you would be correct, I am Aphrodite and I will be keeping you company until you’re future mentor is available, nothing is more important than being here for a new student..” she spoke with a smile.

Aphrodite was serious about that, she remembered how scared she was when she first arrived to the house of night alone and afraid, then she would always worry about her brother and father. Aphrodite knew now she didn’t have to worry since aries was here, she would do her best to keep an eye on him when he wasn’t busy, she had listened as the new student had asked about a cat taking a slow look over her shoulder she saw it was Simba with the lighter as if he was taunting her “Simba” she whispered turning around slowly so her back was to seamus she watched the kitten what he has there….is my ritual lighter, I use for holding rituals…ok so I am going to give you a quick lesson….here at the house of night we don’t own cats…in fact it’s the other way around, cats choose a fledgling and we belong to them…that cat has a pet named Raven Nicola Darkwood….he is a good kid, really shy tho…Back onto the kitten…here comes lesson two this kitten’s name is Simba chances are during your education here this little terrorist will screw you over in one way or another…he is always causing trouble for the fledglings so when you see him make no sudden movements watch him like he was a bag of blood” she spoke softly for him.

Aphrodite looked at Simba and made a small step towards he kitten, the kitten watched in anticipation he got a kick out of taunting fledglings, as Aphrodite dived towards the kitten Simba had turned and bolted making it just out of her reach she glared at Simba as she was now on the ground “Give me back my lighter, before I soak you with a garden hose” it was at the mention of hose did Simba bolt off towards the school with the lighter and Aphrodite groaned and lowered her head. After a few seconds she picked herself up and turned to face the new kid “Sorry about that, anyway if you follow me…I will take you to the best place in the entire school”she spoke as she started to walk off towards Nyx’s temple

Seamus stifled a laugh at the failed attempts by Aphrodite to get her lighter back off of the devious Simba, knowing it would probably make things worse. He smiled slightly as she walked back towards him and said, "I'm sure you'll get him next time." Seamus picked up his bags and followed the girl towards wherever she was taking him before asking, "Anywhere where I can put these? It feels like my arms are about to pop out of their sockets."

As the two of them walked, Seamus remembered something and asked, "You know a lass called Logan? Logan Carvator? She's an old friend of mine and I promised her that I'd find her once I had recovered and arrived here." He shrugged, at least as much as he could with the duffel bags in his hands. "Bit of a long shot but I might as well try, right?" He smiled at her, trying to appear as friendly as he could to make a good first impression with the girl. Hold on, where is she taking me? She said something about rituals and... Oh Nyx, is she a Dark Daughter Seamus' mind went back to what he had been told about his arrival there and being greeted by Aphrodite. The person on the other end of the phone hadn't told him anything about who the girl would be apart from her name, although that's all he probably needed to know. Well, I guess that means it's more important than ever to make a good impression.

Aphrodite had heard the reassuring of the new kid, it was obvious he was new everyone knew that no one could catch Simba unless he wanted to be caught, the kitten may be young, but he was fast and agile and noctorious. She continued to walk and listened to him “if you like you can leave it there and someone will take it to your room for you…don’t worry about anyone stealing anything…the vampyres know when someone is up to no good…sometimes they know a little to much for my comfort” she spoke while she walked, she had never been up to anything no good, she was always doing her best to uphold the dark daughters reputation.

Aphrodite had heard seamus ask about logan she didn’t really hang out with logan they were different circles and frankly Aphrodite didn’t really have the time to hang out much, she smiled “Logan….we don’t really hang out much, we have a mutual friend tho….if you ever want to know logan’s whereabout’s look for Kenny Hao….he will know for sure” she spoke for a smile stopping for a moment she turned to the new kid and had taken his luggage off him and carried it behind a tree and placed it there “Trust me your stuff is safe…and if any students try to mess with it….i promise you I will kick their butts” she spoke with a smile.

Aphrodite couldn’t wait to get back to the temple as she walked with it, she looked at the young were fledgling “so Mr Mcallister, why don’t you tell me about yourself…come on it’s share time” she spoke playfully. as she continued to walk looking forward to hanging out in Nyx temple

Seamus smiled as Aphrodite mentioned beating someone up if they messed with Shay's luggage and replied, "Trust me, lass, anyone messes with it, I'll help you with the arse kicking." He pulled off his rucksack and threw it casually in a pile with the rest of his bags, glad to be rid of their weight. Kenny Hao, he thought to himself. Sounds fun.

Shay laughed slightly when the Vampyre girl asked him to tell her about himself. "Well," he started. "If you haven't noticed yet, I'm originally from Scotland, so if that doesn't tell you something about me then I don't know what will." He smiled. "I mean, if you've ever met a Scot, you'd know that most of us are friendly, outgoing people and not like the Brits who all seem to be very introverted. And I just realised I sound like a walking lonely hearts ad."

He laughed at himself slightly, not sure what Aphrodite wanted to hear. "Sorry. I'm just not sure what you want to hear exactly. That, and I have no idea what's going on today. I didn't get any sleep last night from being nervous about arriving here." Seamus laughed awkwardly, again not sure whether or not to continue the conversation and hoping that the girl would be able to continue it for him in some way.

Aphrodite giggled a moment as he spoke about helping her kick arse, something she would never allow. She always fought her own battles on her own. Helping raise her little brother and help her father it taught her to be tough and if anyone tried to oppose her they would be sorry, and by messing with a student she was guiding that was a direct challenge to her. Aphrodite continued walking as she heard the newbie speak claiming he is from Scotland and went on to talking about how Scottish people were very sociable people unlike the british.

Aphrodite had shown enough new kids around to tell this guy was nervous, all new kids were. Heck she could remember when she first came here she was nervous, but then in truth she was relieved that she didn’t have to be the mother figure anymore to her brother and help out being an adult and that paradise time lasted a while until she was dubbed the high priestess in training and boom the responsibility return with a vengeance. “well from scotland you say….how be nessie the lockness monster” she asked playfully as she kept walking towards the temple with the new student “it’s no problems I understand that your nervous about starting at a new school, and of course your anxious and tired and rambling it’s natural…we will get you settled in you will relax and sleep like…something that sleeps well…but first I really got to show you the best part of te school” she spoke cheerfully to Seamus.

She looked at him and smirked newbie students were always interesting creatures either cocky little cockoroaches or timid little mice you never knew what you were going to get at this school “so if your from Scotland how do you know Logan” Aphrodite asked curiously while they walked.

Seamus laughed slightly at the jibe about the Loch Ness Monster and replied, "Still a myth, I hope, although I thought Vampyres were a myth at one point and look how wrong everyone was about that." He smiled again as Aphrodite mentioned Shay being nervous and said, "I think the phrase you're looking for is 'sleep like a log'. And I'm glad that being nervous is natural in a situation like this. I'm guessing it would have been better for the other werecats since they all arrived as a group." He shrugged, glad to be able to get his full point across without having the weight of his three bags to limit his movement. "I dunno, might have been as bad for them as it is for me now, I'll have to ask them." As an after thought, he added, "Where are we going anyway?"

As the girl asked about how he knew Logan, Shay smirked back at her and answered, "Well I know all of the werecats in the school, although I'm more friendly with some than others. We were all taken in by Zain, Logan's father, because he was the first werecat and was told by Nyx to keep us hidden until about two months ago. I was one of the first Fledglings and I'm fairly near to Logan's age so me and her were friends almost immediately." His grin widened as he said, "What also helped was that she was always visiting me whenever she could after the car accident which stopped me from arriving here when she and the other werecats did."

Aphrodite listened as seamus laughed, about the loch ness monster, she smiled as she kept moving and “sleep like a log….i dunno about that…how can a log sleep…I prefer the term sleep like a snorlax” she giggled at the nerd factor within her. Aphrodite had thought about seamus and the rest of the werecats, she wondered why Nyx blessed them in this way, why did she feel the need to create them for what purpose. Aphrodite also thought about how Nyx did it how did the did any miracle worked, what was the science for miracles how did they happen and why.

She looked at seamus “hmm I love cats their all so cute and fluffy….here kitty kitty kitty” she moved closer to seamus and scratch behind his ear. It wasn’t like Aphrodite to be so casual about it to go and scratch the new kid behind the ear, she chalked it down to a ditzy blond moment. Looking ahead s he smirked “well you are here now…and if anyone gives you trouble you come find me ok….I mean it Seamus…ill sort out the punks.” she spoke sounding serious, she knew a lot of the fledglings tended to look down on werecats, they were afraid because of their ignorance. Aphrodite however wasn’t afraid, just curious even though she knew everything there was to know she had a theory that there was more to werecat fledglings then meets the eye.

Seamus smiled at Aphrodite as he grabbed her wrist gently and moved it away from himself whilst saying, "Yeah well these cats aren't exactly cute and fluffy. Most of us are more likely to rip your hand off when you pet them so I suggest you be careful." His smile was one of friendliness to show that he wasn't one of the more violent werecats but the warning still held some warrant due to Shay knowing quite a few different individuals who were rather violent.

The young werecat listened to what Aphrodite said about her sorting out anyone who might mess with him and smirked back at her before saying jokingly, "Can I sort them out then come to you? I mean I'll need someone to make sure I don't get bollocked if I break some arsehole's jaw if he starts on me." He stuck his tongue out playfully and then asking, "Or is that a really, really bad idea?" His thoughts went back to the previous night and the minor scuffle he had had with a group of Vampyres much older than he was and still coming out of the other side with less damage than his opponents. It had also been a good night in that Shay had met a Re Vampyre named Night who he was now going out with, so it wasn't all bad.

[Night Tenjo]

Night was at work doing her usual routine of cleaning tables, sweeping the floor, doing inventory of every chair, glass, alcohol brand and how much each bottle had. She was very anal about each and every meticulous task she had. The only other person there when she was, was Tyler or Kyle, a couple of very gay guys that were a couple. If you looked at Tyler you'd never suspect the gorgeous high school soccer player star to be gay. He almost always the bouncer except on his off days when Kyle would rarely take over the job. Unlike Tyler who was quite obviously an alpha man, Kyle was a flamboyant gay. He worked with at least a dozen glow sticks on his body, rainbows looked straighter than he acted.

As Night did her usual work before the place opened she watched and admired the two boys as they helped prep the place for any species to enjoy, human and vampyre alike. The club was a place of inter species tolerance. People who wanted to experience being bitten and vampyres who wanted to do the biting. But as she admired the gay couple she couldn't hold back a sneeze. Someones thinking about me... She thought as she remembered a Japanese superstition about sneezing out of no where.
