SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD

JUST AS MESSED UP AS ME
carnivorous, gentle, bossy, loving. patched fur paced over branches, claws digging into bark, slitted eyes watching, waiting. the male, a tortoiseshell, qismat, sat on a low lying branch, tail wrapped around his front paws. his head was craned forward, watching the events which were beginning to happen. he wasn't entirely certain of the transpirings, only that something was happening which was giving his child a rather trying experience.
the arab girl frowned at the fountain, watching the moon shimmer in the crystal water. her left hand clenched the frame of the fountain, her eyes watching the water which floundered and caused ripples. concentrating her sights on the excited liquid, she lifted her right hand, palm facing upward in a sort of curved position. "water, aid me.." her voice was just a slight whisper, but she still felt the raging cool of a wave crashing against the shore, and the mighty patter of rain on a roof top. she smiled slightly, pleased with the familiar feeling. and she beckoned with her lifted hand, the index and middle fingers twitching. a reaction was slow in coming, the water stilled for a small moment, there was no falling or ripples, just silence. and the water began to fall again, but that wasn't what she wanted. she beckoned again, and the water bubbled, forming a sphere near to her, lifting from the mass of liquid.... an inch, two inches. and several more bubbles followed, coming near to her and then joining to become one large bubble of water. it writhed and spun in the air, zahara squealed, jumping up immediately as soon as the bubble became larger. and in the middle of her jumping and happy dance, the bubble popped. zahara's eyes opened in disappointment and shock, she had thought that she had finally gotten it to work, but no.
she ran a hand through her hair, blast it! she said out loud, huffing into the air. it was a moment she wasn't likely to forget, she often failed to control the water completely, it was obvious that practice was necessary for her. but at that exact instant that those words left her mouth, the predator which had been lurking in the darkness of the tree beside the fountain leaped upon her. his paws hit her shoulder with a soft thud and his purring roared loud in her ear. she fell forward a bit, but caught her balance easily and turned her head to discover the beautiful tortoiseshell beside her head. she smiled at him, guess this means i should quit for the night? eh, qismat?
