Personality: Yuzu is rather energetic, but quiet at the same time. She likes sports and martial arts classes, but doesn't like to talk to other people. She is very athletic, but is often the one who just sits in the background. She tends to do what others tell her simply because she doesn't like to say no to other people. Her parents were strict on both her and her little sister, and because of that Yuzu is very protective of her little sister. 

Yuzu is very kind, but keeps to herself more often than not. She wants to be helpful, but she is just too shy to go ask anyone. She wants to be more outgoing, and tries to use sports to help her get to that. She would be rather easy to take advantage of, except for her ability to see when someone is telling the truth or when they are lying to her.
Likes: not having to worry about the pressure associated with having an elemental affinity, her little sister, sports, stargazing, kimonos, reading, her cat Fuyuki

Powers: Yuzu is, for some reason, unable to connect to the elements. However, since the day she was Marked, she has been able to see the elemental spirits that are able to connect to those with affinities to the elements. Recently, she has begun to understand them, and is even able to speak to them. She doesn't realize yet how rare this ability is, as she doesn't speak to other vampyres or werecats that often.

Yuzu also has an uncanny ability to tell if anyone is lying to her. She sees black, red, or brown if she's talking to a human, vampyre, or werecat, respectively, if they lie to her. If they speak the truth, she sees white, blue, or yellow for humans, vampyres, or werecats, respectively. The color usually simply glows around the speaker's head. This ability, however, has yet to surface.
History: Yuzuyu was born in Hokkaido, Japan, the first child of Maika and Ichijou Nanahara, and was named Yumiko. Ichijou was a teacher at the local high school, while Maika stayed at home to care for the house. Yumiko was always a quiet girl, but loved playing sports with the neighborhood boys who she grew up with. Yumiko was three years old when her little sister Yuriko was born. Yumiko did her best to help care for her sister, as she knew it was expected of her. Her parents were very strict, borderline abusive without ever actually hitting the children. Ichijou was worse, often yelling at the girls as they grew for simple mistakes. 

As the girls got older, they learned to rely only on each other. They stopped trusting other people, never telling their parents about things that went on at school. They went to friends to study, simply because they couldn't stand the atmosphere at their own home. They spent many nights over at friends houses, without ever telling anyone anything. As it went on, Maika became more and more depressed, gradually withdrawing from the world. Maika became so withdrawn that she eventually just died

It got worse when Yumiko was in the final year of middle school, and working on entrance exams for high schools. She tried to get into a school that wasn't too close to home, so she could spend as much time away from her parents as possible. 

Her life changed one day during her gym class, when she was thirteen, and they were outside at the track. Yumiko was on the track team, and was one of the best sprinters and throwers on the team. Her sister Yuriko was one of the first years at the middle school, and was also outside with them. A Tracker from the Hokkaido House of Night was there, looked Yumiko directly in the eye, and Marked her. Yuriko immediately helped Yumiko home, going back to get their things the next day. Yumiko found that she was able to see strange creatures flying around, many creatures in multiple different colors. 

When she got home from school, it was to find her father home sick, but completely in control of himself. He saw the blue crescent moon on his oldest daughter's head and freaked out. He slapped her across the face, striking her for the first time. Yumiko refused to speak to him again, even going so far as to take the train to get to the House of Night.

That evening, Yumiko went to the Hokkaido House of Night. She changed her name to Yuzuyu, as she had always loved that name. She loved living at the House of Night, as she was finally away from her father. She began to worry about her little sister, and went back periodically to visit. 

Not long ago, a neighbor called Child Services because of some suspicious noise they heard one night. Child Services pulled Yuriko, then approached the House of Night about Yuzuyu. The two were pulled from Hokkaido, and then were sent to America to live with an aunt. Yuzu went to the Chicago House of Night, and Yuriko went to the local high school. It took her some time to get used to the American school system. However, before that could really happen, Yuriko was found by a Tracker and Marked with a gold crescent. Yuriko was enrolled into the Chicago House of Night by her aunt, but has yet to arrive.
