Personality: Saoirse is a very reserved person. She is very intelligent, and very geeky about all types of art, so if you startle her or if you get on a topic she knows nothing about, random artistic facts slightly related to whatever you are talking about might come splurting out of her mouth. Saoirse likes to keep her private life private and she gets very shy and redfaced about her own life, mostly because her life that she thinks about is only her vampyre life. She remembers fond childhood memories of her mother, but nothing from her mother's death. She stutters over her words, for as poised as she looks, acts, and paints. She is a complete fumbling ditz when it comes to words coming out of her mother.
Once you get to know her, though she gets more intimate with you, she is still a fumbling ditz with her words; she just jokes more about it. She actually has a very quirky sense of humor, and she loves when people makes jokes. She loves laughing and having a good time. She just can't make jokes herself. She makes awful jokes; they just aren't funny at all. She really is like a little bit of a nerdy cliche herself which is funnier than any of her jokes. She is like the ideological cat lady with her weird art obsession, she just happens to look like a 23 year old.

Powers: Shay's power is the affinity of artistic intuition. By this, it means, looking at a piece and seeing what's missing or what can be added. What makes the piece cohesive. She can do this with any artistic work, from a doodle on a paper to a oil painting to a bedroom interior design. It also means that she sees the world artistically, meaning seeing the beauty in something that's regular, like a dandelion in the cracks on the sidewalk, or explaining a story to someone in such an artistic way that they get imagery so descriptive, they feel as if they were there. She can also tell you if a piece of art is real or a replica.
History: Saoirse was born Kadence Clodagh Becker. Excuse the oddity of names thrown into Shay's history. Her mother, and Shay are both very proud Irish lasses. Saoirse (her mother) was born in Kilkenny, Ireland and immigrated to the United States with her older brother and his wife when she was only fourteen years old. Her parents told her it would be a good opportunity to make something of herself and of the O' Reilly family. Her mother started out as a washmaid and made less than the minimum wage. She lived with her brother until she met her husband, which ended up being Kadence's father. Kadence was born in '66, followed by her sister, Alamela in '70.
Her father was a white collar businessman. He got up and went to work today, still living in the '50's American Dream ideology. Her mother became a citizen of the United States and taught her daughters how to be proud little Irish decendants. Kadence was always a Momma's girl and loved what her mother had to say. She even learned some Gaelic that her mother taught her. Her middle name, Clodagh is Gaelic for Claudia. Her mother's name was also Gaelic for Freedom and pronounced Sir-she. Her father, who wanted to live the American Dream told them that they needed to leave all of the Irish shit behind them and focus on the present and the American life.
As Kadence and Alamela grew up, they grew apart. Kadence grew more and more obsessed with Irish culture and history, and with art, while Alamela grew up following in her father's footsteps, becoming obsessed with religion, with the People of Faith, and with being a people please. Kadence was always a quiet loner, while her sister was a popular insider. Kadence didn't mind, she was just more into paintings or books, than people. Kadence and Alamela lost their mother when Kadence was 14 and it devastated her. She was part of a mugging gone wrong and the mugger left her mother for dead. Her mother did make it to the hospital but died in intensive care less than 24 hrs later.
When Kadence was about 15, the tracker came to school. Kadence was reading while walking and didn't notice the sudden group of teenagers pushing the other way until she was bumped by one and fell to the ground. The person who helped her up was the tracker. Kadence turned completely white. She had heard of people being found by the tracker, and she knew that from that exact moment forward, she would not be able to go back home to her People of Faith household. She asked the tracker in a mouse of a voice to take her to the House of Night.
Kadence spent her years thriving at the House of Night. Still grieving her mother, but loving the freedom that no longer being with her father and sister possessed, she found it more than fitting to change her name to her mother's name, Saoirse, leaving Kadence as her middle name. Most people ended up calling her Shay for short, which she didn't mind in the least. She found many friends and never felt like a loner after joining the house of night. She flourished in arts and eventually it was explained to her that she had an artistic intuition for her affinity. After she graduated from her sixth former classes, she asked if she could stay and become a teacher for the Arts Studies. The House of Night in Santa Barbara position was full, but they called around and found out that there was a position opening in Chicago and she headed there.
